We recommend visiting Patagonia and the Chilean Fjords during the southern hemisphere’s spring and fall, in September and April, respectively, when the weather is mildest and wildlife is more active. This timing increases the chances for an optimal experience for our travelers, but as always, this is an unpredictable place so please be prepared for different types of conditions.

Ralph plans to lead the September 15 – 23, 2026, departure to Patagonia, but this does require a minimum of 5 participants.
If we don’t reach 5 participants, those who are registered will be able to travel on their own to enjoy this unparalleled adventure to the Southern Hemisphere where the Antarctica 21 crew will take very good care of you throughout!
This trip includes daily guided excursions such as Zodiac cruising among glaciers, wildlife watching, and options for kayaking, hiking, and snowshoeing. Onboard presentations by experts in glaciology, geology, weather, and natural history are also included to enrich your understanding of the region.
A complete packing list will be provided but it’s important to know that this part of the world requires layers that can handle extreme wind, cold and potentially wet conditions. Essential items include waterproof pants and jackets, quality down jackets, thermal underwear, gloves, a warm hat and sunglasses. Your fee includes specialized gear like sturdy waterproof boots and walking sticks so you can take comfort in the fact that you won’t need to pack these items.
We specialize in small-group travel, typically designed for individuals, couples, and small groups who value a more personal and relaxed experience. Since this is a custom tour, the group size can vary.
You’ll be traveling aboard the Magellan Explorer, a modern expedition vessel that accommodates up to 76 guests—small enough to feel intimate, yet large enough to offer exceptional comfort, spacious cabins, and outstanding service. Its low guest-to-crew ratio ensures attentive care and a smooth, enriching journey from start to finish.
