We recommend to visit Antarctica during the southern hemisphere’s summer, from November to March, when the weather is mildest and wildlife is most active. This timing provides the optimal experience for our travelers.

Our custom tours can include daily guided excursions such as Zodiac cruising among icebergs and calving glaciers, wildlife watching for penguins, seals, and whales, and options for kayaking, snow shoeing and polar plunges. Onboard presentations by experts are also included to enrich your understanding of the region.

A complete packing list will be provided but it’s important to know that Antarctica requires layers that can handle extreme wind, cold and potentially wet conditions. Essential items include waterproof pants and jackets, quality down jackets, thermal underwear, gloves, a warm hat and sunglasses. Your fee includes specialized gear like sturdy waterproof boots and walking sticks so you can take comfort in the fact that you won’t need to pack these items.

We specialize in small group tours, with groups of 10 to 12 participants to ensure a personalized experience and more intimate interactions. If you’re looking into a custom tour, we can also adjust the group size based on your preferences, ensuring the best dynamic for your group. Our small sub-group aboard the Magellan Explorer is limited, but the ship fits a maximum of 76 passengers and has the lowest client to crew ratio in the industry.
